Andrew Oliver on Hani Suleiman's Election to the JCP-EC

In his blog, Andrew Oliver contemplates the wisdom of electing Hani Suleiman to the Java Community Process Executive Committee (JCP-EC).
Hani's election has come at the expense of Iona. You have probably heard of Iona. They created one of the world's most widely deployed CORBA solutions.
The response to Hani Suleiman's election to the JCP-EC has generally been quite positive. Hani is a member and firm supporter of the JCP and is active on a number of JSRs. However his "off-hour" activities as author of the BileBlog has earned him the reputation as being someone who is quite willing to take off-color pot shots at people in the Java community.

Do you think that the JCP was wise in their decision to elect Hani Suleiman given that his off-color remarks have offended so many in the Java community?
